My primary goal is to drive sustainable business results through the application of lean principles.  I work with senior leaders to develop a clear picture of where problems are coming from and the relative impact, and then with the staff leaders of those groups, I work on methods to close those gaps.  I use the shop floor as a microscope into the effectiveness of the company and select the most effective tools to address the issues that will drive the most significant results.  This will start on the shop floor, but I find a more holistic approach is required involving all aspects of the business, especially those impacting the floor.

This process has proven effective in all sizes of companies, from large global industrials to small single-shop manufacturing plants.  

Many companies have started some form of lean implementation; Lean has been around for a long time. The SMS process compliments that progress by ensuring we are working on those items that will drive results and that we can monitor that progress as we work on other steps.  It engages all leaders in a self-discovery process where they can see the problems coming from their group and work on them in a priority order aligned with their resources.  When the entire staff is aligned, the results improve exponentially.
